Want to reach Everest Base Camp and visit the beautiful turquoise aquamarine lakes of Gokyo? You will have the opportunity to take in what most regard as the best views of Mt. Everest in the Khumbu region!
A 23 day epic, this is not for the faint hearted. The journey is ideal for the very fit who want to stay high in the Himalaya and keep 'topping out' again and again over 5000m.
This will have your endorphins truly flowing!
Trek Itinerary
- Day 1
- Arrive Kathmandu
Pick-up from airport, transfer to hotel, trek briefing.
Welcome dinner at Kathmandu’s finest Nepali restaurant.
- Day 2
- Kathmandu - Half Day City Tour/Sightseeing
Visit the ancient temples and monuments of old Kathmandu.
Lunch and Trek Briefing with free time for sightseeing.
- Day 3
- Fly to Lukla (2830m) and trek (3-4 hours) to Phakding (2650m)
Early morning flight in a twin otter airplane to Lukla.
Half day trek on the 'Everest Highway' following the Dudh Kosi river to Phakding.
- Day 4
- Trek (5-6 hours) to Namche Bazaar (3440m)
Trek mostly uphill to the thriving Bazaar and Sherpa Capital of Namche.
First views of Everest, Lhotse, Thamserku, Kusum Kangru, Kwangde and Taweche.
- Day 5
- Rest and acclimatisation day at Namche Bazaar (3440m)
Explore the interesting trading capital of Namche Bazaar.
Kick back, write postcards or a short walk to fantastic view point of Mount Everest.
- Day 6
- Trek (5-6 hours) to Dole (4080m)
The trek opens up and becomes more rugged and mountainous.
- Day 7
- Trek (3-4 hours) to Machermo (4465m)
A shorter day we reach Machermo, above the tree line and you have the opportunity to hike to an adjacent peak to further acclimatise.
- Day 8
- Rest and acclimatisation at Machermo (4465m)
Another opportunity to explore side trip options to further aid in important acclimatisation.
- Day 9
- Trek (3-4 hours) to Gokyo (4780m)
A short trek to the turquoise lakes of Gokyo. You are free to explore further or enjoy relaxing by the exquisite lakeside.
- Day 10
- Ascend Gokyo Ri (5352m) and Trek to Dole (4080m)
An early start to ascend the steep peak of Gokyo Ri which gives you stunning views of the huge glacier, lakes and epic views of Everest!
- Day 11
- Trek (3-4 hours) to Phortse (3890m)
We return the way we have come up, arriving early at Phortse. You will then have the opportunity to visit a Monastery via a short hike.
- Day 12
- Trek (5-6 hours) to Dingboche (4348m) via Pangboche
The trek opens up where you will have stunning views of Ama Dablam, Thermseku, and Kangtega. We visit Pangboche for lunch and visit one of the oldest monasteries in the Khumbu region – the famous Tengboche Monastery!
- Day 13
- Rest and Acclimatisation at Dingboche (4348m)
You can climb a high ridge line that takes you over 5000m to aid acclimatisation and give you great views of Ama Dablam and her lakes, Island Peak, Mansalu and then chill out in the afternoon sun.
- Day 14
- Trek (4-5 hours) to Lobuche (4930m)
Make a gradual ascent to Thukla for lunch. Climb steeply up the terminal moraine of Khumbu Glacier paying respect to memorials of those who have lost their lives on Everest.
- Day 15
- Trek (7-8 hours) to Everest Base Camp (5380m) and return to Gorak Shep (5180m)
Cross Changri and Khumbu glaciers for lunch at Gorak Shep. Trek onto reach EBC viewing the Khumbu Glacier and ice fall, returning to Gorak Shep to spend the night.
- Day 16
- Ascend Kala Patthar (5545m) and Trek (8-9 hours) to Pheriche (4280m)
Get exceptional views of Mount Everest from this classic view point of Kala Patthar and then descend for lunch at Gorak Shep. Descend further down to Pheriche (Where the Himalayan Rescue Association are based) to spend the night.
- Day 17
- Trek (3-4 hours) to Tengboche Monastery (3830m)
After a good rest at Pheriche we have a short descent to Tengboche Monastery where we can watch the monks perform their daily rituals.
- Day 18
- Trek (3-4 hours) to Namche Bazaar (3440m)
Back to the interesting bazaar to relax, write postcards, drink & eat good coffee and food with some shopping while soaking up the atmosphere.
- Day 19
- Trek (3-4 hours) to Phakding then Lukla
We descend down the valley following the Dudh Kosi staying at Phakding.
- Day 20
- Trek to Lukla
We arrive at Lukla and have a dinner party to celebrate the last night on the Trek and completion of a successful journey.
- Day 21
- Fly to Kathmandu
Stay in a hotel in Kathmandu to chill-out, relax and do some interesting sightseeing.
- Day 22
- Kathmandu Farewell Dinner/Party
Free time to sightsee, shop and relax.
Farewell dinner party and celebration with the trekking team.

- Departure
Onward travel or return home to catch-up with friends and family.
