Even as a child Paul was always climbing trees, playing Indiana Jones, making tree huts and canoeing down The River Avon which runs past his childhood home in Christchurch, New Zealand. That passion and ‘go for it’ attitude transferred onto the ski field at age 3 which spawned his first nickname of ‘killer’.

Since then - and many nicknames later - skiing, trekking and climbing many of the world’s most pristine and beautiful mountains has culminated in a passion for the most sublime of them all - the Himalaya.

Paul has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with 10 years experience as a Human Resources Consultant within Information Technology. Now he uses his exceptional organisational and customer service skills to run Sunstone Adventures.

Sunstone is a Himalayan guiding company designed for the adventurer who wants that local experience.

“We understand the adventurer’s requirements, as let’s face it we’re all a bit different, we listen to what you want and tailor those needs to suit you or your group. We deliver on your expectations resulting in a fun, well-organised successful adventure.”

A self-confessed momo and mango juice connoisseur, when once asked in a job interview what his weakness was, the answer was simply – PIZZA.

Paul’s passions are skiing chest deep powder, eating chillis, climbing easy multi-pitch rock climbs, playing with his parent’s cats Arjee and Barjee, drinking latte and listening to all kinds of great music!

When he’s not in the Himalaya, Paul lives between Christchurch, New Zealand and Edinburgh in Scotland, UK.

We use experienced local business partners and local guides to allow flexibility to tailor our adventures and ensure we give employment to local communities to create sustainable environments.
